Pray For Israel

PEACE THROUGH PRAYER

I want to begin this post with a brief report of our Easter week.

This past Easter week was very productive and insightful in many ways. Prior to our Easter Celebration Service on Sunday, we held a 3-day Prayer Encounter at our church. The purpose was not only to prepare for our Easter Service, but to hear from God as to what He would have us pray for in our community as well as for healing throughout the world.

God did answer our prayers in ways that went beyond our expectations. People responded to the Gospel and received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and received healing throughout the week.

As Christians, we are given clear and concise instructions regarding prayer as it relates to God’s intervention and healing in our lives. It’s not complicated, but it is very simple.

God says in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” KJV.

See, I told you it wasn’t complicated. If we claim to be the people of God, there are the qualifiers for God’s intervention. Humility, prayer, seeking God’s will, and repentance.

I will now move on the events that have taken place the week after Easter. They are based on the banner on our facility that reads, “Pray for Israel”.

A few years ago, the Lord put it in my heart to prepare a message specifically aimed at praying for Israel. I believe that when we pray for the protection of Israel according to the Word of God, he will bring blessings to all the families of the earth including us, not just Israel.

In this message, I also mentioned that the foundations for many of the Civil, Judicial and Moral guidelines for our country are biblically based. I based this message on the following scriptures.

1.Spiritual Blessings and Protection

In Genesis 12, the Lord speaks to Abraham and gives him instructions concerning his destiny, (to become the spiritual father of a great nation), and the blessings that would not only follow him, but also to his offspring if he obeys the word of the Lord.

In vs. 3, the Lord says, “And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”

2. Spiritual Adoption by Faith

As Christians, we believe that this scripture not only refers to Abrahams natural offspring, but also to us as Abrahams spiritual offspring by faith. We become “Heirs to the promises of God”. Romans 8:17.

Also see Romans 1, and Romans 9 the entire chapters.

Fast forward to the week after Easter. Suddenly calls and emails came in from people and organizations from within the U.S. as well as from other countries telling us to take down the “Pray for Israel” banner.

They said, “You shouldn’t just pray for Israel, but pray also for its neighbors and that we needed to display banners for the other countries as well. (Should any of them read this post, my advice for them is to put up a banner on their house of worship praying for whatever country they want.) Their agenda is to politicize our faith and prayers. Nothing could be further from the truth.

On the contrary, for us; it is a “spiritual issue”. Our prayers are not motivated by politics, bureaucracy, or by any partisan agendas, but rather are heartfelt, motivated by God’s love and compassion according to his Word. In fact, Jesus rebuked some of the disciples for thinking his mission was political.

I should say, that we have also received calls and emails from here in the United States as well as from other countries in support for the displaying of the “Pray for Israel” banner. We appreciate and thank them for their support.

New Harvest Christian Fellowship has a world-wide vision when it comes to preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. John 3:16 gives us a picture of God’s love for the world and Matthew 28:19-20 gives the church its mandate to preach the Gospel to all nations.

When we pray for Israel, we’re praying for the people based on biblical truths which we believe will bring healing, spiritual blessings, and destiny. We pray for the protection of those whom God calls “His People”, wherever they may live. The banner remains as do our prayers for Israel.

Remember 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If My People, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” KJV.
