N.H.C.S. uses the Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E.) curriculum for all grades. This curriculum is innovative, individualized and designed to facilitate learning. Each student is given a course of study to meet their specific needs and learning capabilities. Does your child excel in a particular subject? Struggle in their academics? Has your child stopped learning? Whether the student is a high-achiever, a moderate-paced learner, or learns at a slower pace; here at N.H.C.S., using A.C.E. every child can succeed! Each student is provided with academic diagnosis and issued A.C.E. curriculum at a level where they may begin performing successfully. Godly character-building and Biblical principles are incorporated into the curriculum along with a solid mastery of back-to-basics academics.. The combination of quality academics and built-in controls enables a student to attain the highest level of scholastic achievement.
Elementary students study 5 core subjects: Mathematics, English, Social Studies, Science and Word Building. Enrichment courses may also be studied. These include: Basic Computer Skills, Bible Reading and Creative Writing.
Secondary students follow the California Department of Education course requirements for High School Graduation. Students, who enter high school and are able to work at grade level, will be placed on a College Preparatory track.
We believe that God has given parents the direct responsibility to train and educate their children according to God's Word. We serve as a partner with them in carrying out this responsibility.
The N.H.C.S. staff and program honor Biblical principles which build character. The staff is dedicated, committed to Christ and determined to teach by example. Respect for authority, respect for the property of others, and personal responsibility are integrated throughout the school program. This offers our students excellent and effective life training, which is the most important aspect of education. A godly and values-based school environment prevents our students from many negative elements they might face elsewhere.
Our mission is to reach children for the Lord; provide a Christ-centered education which will give them the opportunity to acquire the spiritual, academic, social and physical skills necessary to reach their God-given potential. We encourage each student to make positive contributions to their world according to God's plan for their lives.
Field Trips--All students attend 2 to 3 field trips per year. Field trips are always educational and always fun! Students have visted places like the Long Beach Aquarium, Science Centers, Museum of Tolerance, Knott's Educational Tour, Riley's Farms and various plays, musicals and museums throughout the area.
Student Council--N.H.C.S. has an active student government. Student Council members are to work as a governing body and each member is expected to be a godly example to their peers. Elections are held and new officers and representatives are voted into office each year. The Council represents student concerns to the administration. They also provide ideas and activities to improve the student school environment.. School Wide Chapel is one activity initiated by the Council and loved by student and staff alike. The entire school gathers for student led worship; skits, special music, and powerful guest speakers which are all part of School Wide Chapel. Chapels are organized completely by students and held several times throughout the school year. The Council has hosted many fun events such as Crazy Hat Day, Sports Week, Picnic in the Park, Spirit Week, Decades Day and Twin Day. All these events enrich student life and the Student Council learns leadership, governing and organizational skills.
Yearbook--N.H.C.S. has an award winning yearbook program. High School students may become a part of the school's yearbook staff. Students are taught to use computer applications and the internet to produce the yearbook. Photography skills, creativity, graphic design, and writing skills are improved as students work together as a team to create the yearbook. Students are encouraged every year to produce excellence and the N.H.C.S. Yearbook has won a Lifetouch Yearbook award four years consecutively.
Athletic Program--N.H.C.S. Warriors have a team motto, "All for God." Good sportsmanship and ethical playing practices are taught and expected from every Warrior team member. New Harvest is a member of the California Interscholastic Federation, (C.I.F.) and competes in the following sports: Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball, Boys and Girls Varsity Volleyball and Boys Varsity Baseball. N.H.C.S. belongs to the International League and competes against other league schools in the Southern California area.
